Dear Patient,
We are pleased to offer you easy online access to your medical images and radiological reports. Through the SCP Radiology Patient Portal, you can view your most recent imaging results or access a history of your previous images and radiological reports.
Because your peace of mind is important to us, we kindly ask that you read through the following bullet points to understand why we will always send the results to your doctor or healthcare provider first, and why itโs critical to consult with them about the results.
- Images and reports are first and foremost intended for the doctor who requested the imaging โ to help them make an accurate diagnosis and develop an appropriate treatment plan for the patient. We send your results to your doctor immediately after a report has been generated.
- Your doctor is highly qualified to use your radiology results in combination with other relevant health information to make an informed decision about appropriate care.
- Some reports may contain findings that doctors want to discuss with their patients in person. Other reports may contain medical jargon that isnโt necessarily cause for concern but could cause patients unnecessary anxiety.
- Our sincere advice is to rely on your doctor for context and support in your best interest and to view our Patient Portal merely as a tool to access your radiology records at your convenience.ย
- Images and clinical reports will be delayed by around seven days to allow your doctor time to review them and contact you as necessary.
- As a radiology practice, we are not at liberty to discuss results with patients and we kindly ask that you direct all questions about your results to your doctor or healthcare provider.
Tips on using the SCP Radiology Patient Portal
Option 1: Get temporary access via the custom link emailed to you.
โข After visiting SCP Radiology for imaging, a unique link and instructions will be emailed to you.
โข This unique link will provide temporary access to the results of your latest visit.
(Please keep in mind that you will only be able to see the results after about seven days, so that your doctor can review the them first.)
โข Your link will expire 60 days after your visit, and we strongly advise that you create a permanent account for your own future convenience.
Option 2: Create a permanent account.
โข This is for permanent access to your full imaging history at SCP.
โข Accounts can be created and accessed at any time.
โข You will need to provide some personal details, as well as details about your last visit to SCP, to verify your identity.
โข NOTE that for security purposes, the system will only accept details that correspond to the details you provided during your last visit to our practice.
โข Parents can create separate accounts for their children, as long as details correspond to those provided during the child's last visit.
FAQs:
โข Date of Birth: Please note the unusual format (MM-DD-YYYY).
โข ZIP code: This is your South African residential area code.
โข Provider of your most recent radiology exam: This is asked as one of your verification questions. If you're unsure (e.g., if you came via the emergency room and don't know the doctor's name), refer to your report.
โข Location of your most recent exam: Another verification question. If you're unsure (e.g., if you don't know if it was Cape Gate General or Cape Gate CT), check your visit overview.
โข Personal security questions: We strongly recommend choosing questions with answers you'll always remember. This is for future account recovery.
โข Accounts for children: The process to create the account is the same as for any adult patient. Parents/guardians just need to ensure that parental contact details correspond with those provided during the child's last visit.
โข Downloading: If you wish, you can download or save the report and images to your own device.
