Objective:

Will be responsible for operating diagnostic ultrasound equipment to ensure diagnostic imaging of the highest standard and to maintain the highest quality of patient care.

Requirements:

  • National Diploma or Degree in Diagnostic Ultrasound
  • Registered with the HPCSA as a Sonographer
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid Basic Life Support certificate
  • South African citizenship or valid South African work permit

Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a diagnostic ultrasound service
  • Deliver radiology images of diagnostic quality
  • Perform duties as a sonographer during weekend and after-hour shifts
  • Be patient focused
  • Good interpersonal skills with patients, colleagues, referring physicians and radiologists
  • Supervise diagnostic ultrasound students when applicable
  • Compliance with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes as required by HPCSA
  • Report to Head of Department

SCP Radiology was established in the 1950s by radiology pioneers Drs CJB Muller, DD Keet and JA Beyers.

We have 240 employees, including nurses, administrative staff, close to 30 radiologists and 120 radiographers.

SCP Radiology has 18 branches in the Western Cape, covering Cape Town’s CBD and Northern Suburbs, the West Coast, Breede River Valley and Cape Winelands regions.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, SCP Radiology introduced a contactless facility for outpatients in Brackenfell.

In 2022, we launched the specialised SCP Radiology Tygervalley Mammography Centre in Bellville.
